I viewed the Inauguration of Barack Obama from the Washington Monument. Here the crowd starts to leave after his speech.
This is what I could see from our spot near the Washington Monument. Obama Speaks.

Michael Lent when Obama became President.

Obama Rules.

We had to walk about a mile and a half to get to a place on the Mall.
Thousands trekked through the 3rd Street Tunnel under the National Mall
Thousands of red-hatted volunteers helped guide the crowd. Here we get a way in at 14th Street.
We ended up at the Washington Monument
I wanted a shot of the Capitol but this is the best I could do.
I used a long lens for our only jumbotron view.

The crowd extended all the way to the Lincoln Memorial. Here we all attempt to leave the Mall at once. We got bottlenecked and it took almost an hour to get out.
When GWBush came onstage the crowd responded with a giant collective boo and sang Nananaheyheygoodbye.
As the crowd of 2 million left the Mall, Bush's helicopter left the White House for the last time. We all yelled "Go home." (It was later confirmed by the media that Bush was, in fact, in that helicopter.
Street drummers at Dupont Circle entertained the crowds waiting to enter the Metro station.
