April, 2007: St. Bernard Housing Project is now being demolisthed. HUD ordered this project and 3 others to be torn down. The city of New Orleans approved the demolitions. 5800 families once lived in the 4 projects. Residents put up a fierce resistance. See my previous stories about Public Housing |
